QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How many volts are these solar panels? Can other panels be used in their place? Can they be roof mounted and constantly withstand the change in climate that occurs? Is there a recommend angle if permanently affixed to the roof? Are they polycrystalline better than monocrystalline? What type of durability or lifespand do they have and how much efficiency is lost over time? Does adding an extension cable cause a degradation of wattage or voltage?

    Hello, John.

Thank you for your query, please see the answers to your questions.
    1. How many volts are these solar panels?
The voltage is 17.4 - 21.6V. The watt production is 100 watts

    2. Can other panels be used in their place?
Our Nature's Generator is designed for optimum performance with our 100 watt Nature's Generator Power Panels we sell. The other manufacturer's solar panel may or may not work, depending on the solar panel output voltage and current. If you already have the solar panel on hand and want to use it with your Nature's Generator, we recommend that you contact us for verification / confirmation.

    3. Can they be roof mounted and constantly withstand the change in climate that occurs?
The solar panels can be roof-mounted, the customer would need to buy roof mounts, we do not sell any.

    4. Is there a recommend angle if permanently affixed to the roof?
It actually includes summer and winter positions for optimum exposure during the various seasons in the year. However for the angle, there is really not a best one for this however, we highly recommend that you face the solar panels where it can get as most sunshine as possible.

    5. Are they polycrystalline better than monocrystalline?
This poly-crystalline solar panel is reinforced with 3.2mm safety and anti-reflective glass. Both monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels serve the same function in the overall system, they capture energy from the sun and turn it into electricity. They are also both made from silicon, which is used for solar panels because it is an abundant, very durable element. Many solar panel manufacturers produce both monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels.

    6. What type of durability or lifespan do they have and how much efficiency is lost over time?
Both Type of Solar panels has an expected longevity of 25+ Years. It also depends on how customers use and maintain these.

    7. Does adding an extension cable cause a degradation of wattage or voltage?
The panels are typically used with a 50 ft extension. You will see some line loss at that distance however not very significant.

  • I live in Minnesota, and winter can last 8 months. Can I leave my panels outside in the snow (but not covered in snow)? Also, do the panels charge if left in the sun but from inside the house? Thanks!

    Hello, Sandra.

    Thank you for your query.

On your concern about if you can leave my panels outside in the snow (but not covered in snow) Also, do the panels charge if left in the sun but from inside the house.

There is a misconception that solar panels don’t work if there is no sun. Understandable but also not correct. The cloudy days/snow reduces the charging speed for sure, but the sun is still able to penetrate the clouds and can still provide a charge to Nature's Generators.

As you've mentioned that the panels will not be covered by snow and as long as there's daylight, we can be positive that the generator will still charge however there is a reduced charging capacity.

On the other hand, we would like to recommend using a wind turbine as well, since Nature's Generator Power Panel(s) and Nature's Generator Wind Turbine can charge the Nature's Generator simultaneously which in return compensate for the reduced charging of the generator due to snowy weather. Please refer to the link below for the actual device and if you have further questions, please email us directly via support@nature's generator.com.

  • Can you connect multiple panels together to charge one generator? If so what is the max? To give some insite, I have one generator and two pods so far. I also just purchased the turbine. Can I use a combination of wind and sun to charge at the same time? Any extra parts should be purchased? Also, can the panels be mounted in the cabins roof or just best to use with the wheels. Thank you in advance for your help. ~Karin B

    Hello-

If you have one generator and two power pods, the most amount of solar panels you can connect are two panels to each system, so six 100W solar panels.

Yes, you can use both solar and wind at the same time, they have their own chargers to charge the system. You can mount the panels on the foor, you would just need to purchase mounting kits, as we do not sell those.

  • Hello, I recently bought the panel, but I have a question, while the generator is on, can I charge it at the same time with the solar panel? Or does the generator have the same function of the powerbanks that while they are charging they cannot provide power until their charge is complete? I await your reply, thank you!

    Hello-

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Yes, you are able to connect the solar panel to the charger at the same time, the generator does not need to be turned off at the time.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with.

  • Where does it show the solar input from the panel?

    Hello-

When you connect the solar panel to our Nature's Generator and the solar panel is in the sun, it will start charging the generator. It will also show a solar panel icon on the front LCD screen showing that it is connected.

  • Can i charge up my Tesla using the generator? If yes, for how many hours?

    Hello-

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Unfortunately, we have never tried or tested an electric car with our system, as it was not designed for that.  We feel it would need be enough power to charge an electric car.
